So you’ve completed a Wingman Warrant of Fitness or a Wingman Future Herd Audit - now what?  At this point, there are two options. 

Option One – use the WOF and/or Future Herd Audit as benchmarking tools for your herd, and continue implementing your own genetic strategy.

Option Two – if you’re keen to make a change but don’t know where to start, then our Herds for Life bundle is what you’re looking for.  The Herds for Life bundle incorporates 4 key pieces of work: 1) Warrant of Fitness or Future Herd Audit, 2) Farm Visit, 3) Bull Team Selection + Mating Guide, 4) Strategic Summary.

The Herds for Life bundle starts the same for everyone with a Warrant of Fitness or Future Herd Audit, then adds a crucial Farm Visit.  No-one know your cows better than you, and the farm visit is an opportunity to spend 2-3 hours with you looking at your herd and matching up what you see in the paddock, cowshed and vat with the data.

After validating the data and your gut feel with a Farm Visit, the next stage of the process is Bull Team Selection and creating your Mating Guide.  Bull team selection is fairly self-explanatory, with considerable thought going into balancing your team for liveweight, capacity, udders, fertility and production.  The Mating Guide is our way of helping you implement your bull team practically on-farm.  It hasn’t changed in any way, shape or form since its inception – testament to its simplicity and effectiveness at ensuring the right bull gets used on the right cow.

The final piece of the Herds for Life bundle is the Strategic Summary.  The Strategic Summary pulls the whole process together, incorporating tables/graphs from the Warrant of Fitness or Future Herd Audit, listing your bull team and each bull’s reason for inclusion, and recapping your herd’s primary focus, mating strategy, sire selection validation and culling opportunities.
